I find it very odd that so many photographers in the same genera of '70s documentary like shooting Amarillo, Texas so much. My uncle lived there for 30 years and was a bus driver from Amarillo to Roswell, New Mexico. Maybe I don't see what is/was so interesting about the place today, but I want to know exactly why Steven Shore loved it so much. I really like the images on the 303 Gallery site, and incidentally the first image is of a church in Tucumcari, New Mexico which is the city my mom was born in (and my crazy grandmother made her middle name Cari after the town).
Amarillo is a pretty weird town!
