Firefox Add-ons
So we were talking about Firefox add-ons in class yesterday and I am a huge fan of a few of them so I thought I'd share some I use constantly.
Adblock Plus - This is really good it lets you block annoying images the show up on the top and sides of web pages. Like those stupid flash ads.
WOT - This is awesome it compiles user ratings of sites to warn you of unsafe websites. If you go to a site that has an exploit it warns you before you get screwed.
Grab and Drag - If you enable this it lets you scroll through web pages by grabbing anywhere on the page and flicking it up or down like on a touch screen phone.
Fast Dial - Makes your start up page for firefox a page with thumbnails to your favorite sites and you can just click one.
Ctrl-Tab - When you press ctrl and tab at the same time it will let you scroll through all your open tabs.
Video Download Helper - Steal embeded video files and convert them easily.
Stealing Videos From You Tube - Really easy way to download from youtube that I just found out about. Copy the link from for the video and paste it into the address bar and add "kiss" before youtube. (ex. www.kissyoutube.com/234562356257257247)
Questions for Stephen Shore
1. In an interview you did in 2007 you were asked about the "digital revolution" in photography. In reference to the accessability of photography and the ability of the average person to share information with the masses via internet you said "When everyone has a public voice, we see how many people just don't have anything interesting to communicate". Considering that your voice is even louder than that of the average photographer, what interesating things are you trying to communicate with this emerging technology?
2. Since the invention of the camera people have been using it as a tool to manipulate 2D recreations of a "reality". Now with Adobe making this process a lot more accessable and a lot more common do you believe the integrity of photography has been in someway degraded?
3. What is your f-stop?

Whats up with this Taking Back NYU thing? Students took over an NYU cafeteria and the best they could do was demand scholarships for students from the Gaza-Strip! Really?!? Now they are adding random things to their list like a list of salaries of the NYU staff. These are students who spend $45,000 a year on tuition it's hard to take them seriously when they try to fight the machine.
