Whats NEW
BTW: Dont forget I made a cameo at the BFA show too ; 0 )I know I was fashionably late as always but it was really nice to see everyone who came.
I still think we had a better venue (Amphitheatre), even though our work was somewhat restricted our event space had stairs going down where you could make a grand entrance.

Art
I'm taking this class called Global Issues in Design and Visuality in the 21st Century, and we have guest lecturers every week. We just recently had a lecture by Do Ho Suh, who is an amazing artist, he does installation sculptural type work. You can check out his work here: http://www.lehmannmaupin.com/#/artists/do-ho-suh/. Here's some videos to check out too: http://www.pbs.org/art21/artists/suh/index.html.

I don't know if any of you know about this, I know I didn't, but auction house's have viewings before the actual auction, and they are open to the public. Sotheby's, Christie's, and Bonham's all have some great Photo Shows coming up in the next few months if anyone is interested. It's a great opportunity to see stuff that may never be in a museum or gallery. Check out their websites for details: Sotheby's, Christie's, Bonham's.

Alice Austen
So, I'm doing a project on Historic House Museums in NYC, and decided to check out the Alice Austen House on SI. Alice Austen was a pretty amazing documentary-style photographer in the 1880s, she was not a professional, but she was simply fascinated by photography, and in her lifetime created about 8,000 glass plate images. The museum showcases some of her prized possessions, like her cameras, and some of her many images. It also uses a couple of the rooms as contemporary photography gallery space. It was really interesting and different, definitely worth checking out, if you have time to get to Staten Island. http://www.aliceausten.org/
