Searching for Sonny

this is the first feature film to be shoot on a DSLR

website

film entirely was recorded with 5D mark ii.

5D mark ii has some disadvantages such as non autofocus and non manuel exposure control while recording.

For exposure control they used old nikon f mount adaptor to EOS mount for old nikon 50mm lens to be able to have the aperture control;

and they used special gear goes around the focusing ring that controls the focus without touching the camera. because it is very hard to focus and compose the scene at the same time; one person was in charge of focusing with the remote.

printed matter.

I found a lot of awesome stuff at printed matter, but this book in particular was what I really found interesting. I ended up buying it for a friend.

Do you speculate?

So I took pictures of a bunch of books at Printed Matter, but in last 10 minutes I was there I saw this:

It is just a simple white book, nothing fancy, but really effective. Each page has one image with one tagline. It's about seeing people and asking questions about them, to yourself. I do this all the time when I'm walking around. Here's a few images from the inside of the book:

(Does he have any regrets?)

(Who is he talking to? ) (Does he do this everyday?)

At the end there are no images just blank boxes with questions, I thought it was a really interesting and great way to end the book, here's the beginning of the end:
I loved this book, and picked it up to buy it. It was $52, I loved it, but not $52 dollars worth. Oh well. Printed Matter was awesome though, will definitely be going back there.

Printed Matter

So yesterday I found this one book called Artoons. I really loved this little book because of It's size. Inside the book it had all little cartoons, very small, very detailed. You had to look really close to see what was going on in the image.

Also Eve found this other book that had collage work. Something I'm working with right now, so it was nice to see some interesting examples.

Printed Matter

I love this book by Mie Yim. It's called the ABC Of Sex and it's quite self explanatory. The book is constructed out of cardboard, much like a childrens book would be.

F is for Fetish. G is for Gangbang!

The images are really fun, and a little dirty...ok very dirty.

Print Matters

I took a picture of a book I really liked and I can't find it on my phone now. Which pisses me off because I don't remember the name of the photographer.

His book had a Polaroid on one side of the page and then the blown up picture on the other side. It was pretty nifty. But the book was just layed out very cleanly. It was black, hard cover with large white text every few images to title the series. I was really into it. I'll have to go back now to see who it was.

Also, Print Matters has a lot of books of dick pictures. I'm not going to lie -- I looked through all of them.

Work For The Show

Google maps

Hey y'all!
At the beginning of the semester I thought of a fun idea for a big photo project that our class can do together. The idea was to contact google maps to find out when the van would be driving through our area so we can create these crazy and ridiculous scenes in the background.

This morning I stumbled upon a website and found out it has already been done in Pittsburgh! Oh well.. It sucks that someone else did it but I'm also happy to see how a whole town came together and planned out these fun scenes!
A marching band
a random chicken sculpture
sword fight
firemen rescuing a cat from a tree
confetti
a parade just for us, the viewers!
and my favorite, a woman escaping from her window!
